Joan Duffie,
CEO and President
Joan has more than 30 years of progressive financial experience in growing small businesses across a wide range of industries. Joan’s experience first as a Controller, and then Chief Financial Officer, consists of business start-up, business leadership, management of accounting, human resources, operations and IT. Joan’s practical and forward-thinking approach brings excellence, integrity and business acumen to the table. Because of her vast experience in the small business segment, she is very in-tuned with the rewards and struggles that go along with owning and managing a small business.
Prior to starting Biz-iz, LLC, Joan worked as Chief Financial Officer of a consulting firm for 13 years. In that firm, as well as in other Controller positions, she was required to wear many hats to fulfill the needs of the organizations she worked for. Her responsibilities included implementing accounting systems, practices, procedures and controls to ensure conformance with accepted accounting principles, participating with the senior leadership of organizations to develop strategic, operating, and capital plans and short and long term goals. She was also responsible for development of comprehensive financial reports that reflected the goals of the organizations as well as many other reports presented in ways that could be understood by non-financial managers. She prepared budgets and provide direction for long and short term planning of financial resources to support present and future initiatives. Joan also built and retained strong and lasting business relationships with the leaders of the banks as well as with the CPAs that prepared the tax returns.
Joan’s experience also led her to her expertise in hiring, training and management of accounting, administrative and operational staff, managing the outsourcing of the technical side of many businesses, and managing all aspects of human resources for businesses up to 40 employees.
Joan started Biz-iz, LLC because she is passionate about seeing small businesses grow and succeed. She believes careful planning, establishing goals and preparing a budget are fundamental to your success.
